Wheels and Waves began as the latest chapter in the storied legacy of Homestead Marketplace, a collection of community-driven businesses owned and operated by the Eden family (Mike and Nickey Eden) in Quinte West since 1957. The origins of Homestead Marketplace trace back to a single company, Van Luven Furniture, which was transformed into Eden's Furniture in 1971. By 1983, Eden's Furniture made history as one of the first Leon's Furniture franchises in Canada.

In 2006, the entrepreneurial spirit of Mike and Nickey Eden gave birth to Custom Carts Golf Car and Trailer Supply, marking the beginning of a new era. The success of Custom Carts paved the way for the launch of The Battery Outlet (now Six Douglas Tire and Battery) in 2016, and Canada’s first Husqvarna Outdoor Power Equipment dealership, The Factory Store, in 2018. These expansions reflected the Edens' commitment to diversification and excellence in service.

The year 2022 was a milestone for the Eden family, as their group of companies was rebranded to Homestead Marketplace, a name that encapsulates the wide array of products and services they offer. This period of growth also saw the addition of four new Canadian restaurant franchises, the Homestead Adventure Park, Contrast Media inc., Anytime Fitness, and our very own, Wheels and Waves.
